Jan Eschke, born in Aachen in 1976, is a busy pianist on the German jazz scene, known for his virtuosic style as a soloist and his sensitive talent as a genre-crossing accompanist. He regularly performs and tours with the following ensembles: Martin Auer Quintet, Lisa Wahlandt Band, Willy Ketzer Trio, Max Grosch Quartet, Hugo Strasser Orchestra, The Cat's Table, Nina Michelle Band, Eddy Miller Band, MALOOM, Brahms Meets Jazz, Johannes Faber Quartet, Ray Brown Jr. Band, and others. ... He has also worked with internationally renowned musicians from diverse genres, including Charly Antolini, Inge Brandenburg, Georg Ringsgwandl, Joseph Bowie, Martin Grubinger, Johannes Enders, Thomas Hampson, Virgil Donati, Harold Faltermeyer, Jörg Hube, Peter Fessler, Ack van Rooyen, Max Mutzke, Rebekka Bakken, Karl Ratzer, Rhani Krija, Thomas Lang, and many others. From 2010 to 2017, he held a teaching position in jazz piano at the Leopold Mozart Centre of the University of Augsburg. Since 2024, he has been a lecturer at the Neue Jazzschool Munich. Course

Description :

This course aims to encourage all piano enthusiasts to delve even deeper into the instrument. Participants will develop a solid foundation in harmony and rhythm, including knowledge of the numerous stylistic variations. This course aims to broaden horizons, break down barriers, foster communicative enjoyment of playing, and teach and creatively apply traditional accompaniment techniques from jazz, pop, and Latin American music, especially in the realization of various types of lead sheets and chord symbols. The course seeks to equip each participant with the individual tools they need to realize their musical vision. This course is not suitable for beginners; prior experience playing an instrument is recommended.
