Xenia Löffler has dedicated herself to exploring the fascinatingly diverse oboe repertoire from its beginnings to the 19th century.
She delights her audiences with new discoveries, which she presents in concerts and recordings. Her assured sense of style, her vibrant playing, and her distinctive sound make Xenia Löffler one of the world's leading interpreters of the historical oboe. Immediately after completing her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, she was appointed principal oboist of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and has since been a permanent member of this top-tier ensemble, with which she also regularly performs as a soloist in the most prestigious concert halls around the world. The diverse possibilities of the oboe—in the orchestra, as a soloist, or as a chamber music partner with outstanding colleagues—delight Xenia Löffler, and she has released numerous CDs showcasing her in these varied roles. In addition to AKAMUS, her regular partners on these recordings have included the Batzdorf Court Orchestra and numerous other ensembles with which Xenia Löffler is associated. Particularly formative were the many years of playing with the Amphion Wind Octet, which she co-founded, and her participation in John Eliot Gardiner's Bach Cantata Pilgrimage. Passing on her experience to the younger generation of oboists is especially important to Xenia Löffler. She is regularly invited to international music academies and gives masterclasses. Since 2018, she has been the artistic director of the Neuburg an der Donau Summer Academy. She holds a professorship for historical oboes at the Berlin University of the Arts.
