Lea Rahel Bader - Baroque cello
Lea Rahel Bader studied cello at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and baroque cello and viola da gamba at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, with teachers including Stephan Forck and Kristin von der Goltz. Following her award as "most promising baroque cellist" at the 2012 International Bach Competition in Leipzig, she embarked on an active international concert career in the field of early music. She regularly performs with renowned ensembles and orchestras such as the Lautten Compagney, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Il Gardellino, Ensemble 1700, the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin, and B'Rock. Since 2018, Lea Rahel Bader has taught baroque cello and basso continuo practice for low strings at the Berlin University of the Arts and at workshops both in Germany and abroad. Numerous CD and radio recordings (including with harmonia mundi, Sony Music, BBC, and Radio France) document her artistic work as a sought-after continuo cellist, chamber musician, and soloist. She also regularly dedicates herself to 20th- and 21st-century music and premieres new works.
Course Description:
This course is aimed at music students and trained cellists, advanced amateurs, and, by arrangement, modern string players who wish to explore historically informed performance practice. In solo lessons, the course theme "England 1680-1760" can be explored, for example, through works by F. Geminiani, G. Bononcini, N.F. Haym, and G. Sammartini.
