The internationally renowned pianist Irma Issakadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia and is a member of one of the most significant families of musicians in the former Soviet Union. She studied in Germany with Ludwig Hoffmann and Vladimir Krainev, beginning her professional career at the age of 14. As an outstanding musical personality, she has always attracted considerable attention on the international stage. Her CD recordings of the Goldberg Variations and J. S. Bach’s 6 Partitas are considered to be one of the most significant recordings of these works and were hailed as milestones in their interpretative history by the music press. Her recording of the complete repertoire for cello and piano by the Georgian composer Vaja Azarashvili, together with Alexander Suleiman, will be released on the Naxos label in 2018.
