Piano improvisation (beginners)
After studying school music and piano, Herbert Wiedemann taught piano at Universität Oldenburg. In 1983 he did a doctorate in music education and five years later became professor for piano, main subject improvisation, at Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.
This course is aimed at pianists who are looking for an alternative to the usual playing from sheet music. Ways of playing and exercises will be presented which can be taught without using sheet music and are intended to encourage playing by ear. Playing and listening experiences will be created which do not require knowledge of harmonies or advanced playing techniques.
